Cat Tesla

Cat specializes in painting large, airy, beautiful abstracts and nature-based abstract paintings. "Using nature as my muse, I combine color, shape, and line resulting in a painting that is gestural and free. I use oil, acrylic, graphite, wax crayon, & oil pastel. I start each painting with a ritual: taking a hike or sitting outside, doing mindful meditation, and then beginning. Coming to the studio centered and without expectation allows me to have a conversation with the canvas. A mark is made in response to another and another, and the dance begins. My process is inspired by the work and teachings of Franz Kline's concept of automatism.

Leland creates exceptional pieces, including residential and commercial pieces of artwork. Leland creates the pieces for this series by using the finest powders of iron, copper, and bronze to create a cold liquid paste. This product is then combined with salt-based elements to create an organic reaction and applied to the preferred medium with a single color background. All of the amazing colors in Leland’s work are created by the natural oxidation process of these metals, hence the name Alchemy.

This is an unforgiving process, as every stroke is permanent. Each piece is an outpouring from Lyn’s inner depths. She believes in the healing role that art plays in the internal growth that we all seek. Her desire is for the viewer to connect on an emotional level. It is incredibly rewarding to frequently hear how Lyn’s work makes people happy. She considers this a worthy mission.
